This measure would memorialize the achievements of Rosa Parks in the Civil Rights Movement and would commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Rosa Parks Day in California on February 4, 2020.
Existing law authorizes the governing board of a school district to authorize a pupil who meets specified criteria to attend community college. Existing law limits the number of pupils a principal is authorized to recommend for community college summer session pursuant to those provisions to 5% of the total number of pupils in any grade level, as specified. Existing law exempts, until January 1, 2027, from the 5% limitation pupils who meet specified requirements. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the latter provision.
Existing law authorizes the county superintendent of schools of each county, with the consent of the State Board of Education, to establish and maintain a regional occupational center or regional occupational program in the county to provide, among other things, individual counseling and guidance in career technical matters and a curriculum that includes academic and skill instruction in specific occupational fields. Existing law sets forth various provisions relating to the establishment of a regional occupational center or regional occupational program. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.
Existing law prescribes the adopted course of study for grades 7 to 12, inclusive. That course of study is required to include English, social sciences, world language, physical education, science, mathematics, visual and performing arts, applied arts, career technical education, automobile driver education, and other studies that the governing board may prescribe. Existing law requires courses offered in automobile driver education to include, but not be limited to, education regarding the rights and duties of a motorist as those rights and duties pertain to pedestrians and the rights and duties of pedestrians as those rights and duties pertain to traffic laws and traffic safety. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the latter provision.
This measure would proclaim January 23, 2020, as Maternal Health Awareness Day, to draw attention to the efforts that have improved maternal health in California and to highlight the need for continued improvement of maternal health for all women.
This measure would designate the month of January 2020 as Positive Parenting Awareness Month in California.
This measure, among other things, would declare that California is a Reproductive Freedom State for All and provide that the Legislature is committed to guaranteeing the constitutionally protected right to an abortion and supporting efforts to increase access to the best available reproductive and pregnancy-related care for women and pregnant individuals.
This measure would proclaim January 13, 2020, as Korean American Day.
This measure would honor the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
