Prohibit the force-feeding of birds

Maddy summarySB 369 prohibits force-feeding domestic poultry (like ducks, geese, and chickens) by banning manual or mechanical methods that force birds to consume more food than they would voluntarily. It directly affects poultry producers, processors, and businesses selling force-fed products such as foie gras, magret, or feathers derived from force-fed birds. The bill bans force-feeding, hiring others to do it, and selling force-fed products, with first offenses receiving written warnings and subsequent violations incurring up to $100 civil penalties per day. Enforcement falls to the agriculture director, who may issue penalties for violations of these specific prohibitions.
