Timely Filing of Tax Returns

Maddy summaryHB 939, titled "Timely Filing of Tax Returns," would require tax filing rules to consider returns timely if they meet specific conditions outlined in the bill. These conditions, such as electronic submission by a defined deadline or inclusion of required documentation, would expand what qualifies as a timely filing. The bill directly affects taxpayers who file annual income tax returns by providing additional flexibility to meet deadlines without penalties.
