Stop Child Abuse Act This bill nullifies the executive order titled Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals , which was issued on June 15, 2022. The order directed several executive agencies to establish initiatives that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals in a variety of settings, including health care, education, housing, and social services.
Save America’s Forgotten Equines Act of 2021 or the SAFE Act of 2021 This bill prohibits the transporting, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation by a person of an equine (e.g., horse) that the person has reason to believe will be slaughtered for human consumption.
This resolution sets forth the rule for consideration of H.R. 1011 (Life at Conception Act), which declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual comes into being.
Informing Grandfamilies Act This bill requires states to notify kinship caregivers (e.g., grandparents or other relatives caring for a minor child) about (1) the care and placement options under federal, state, and local laws; (2) the requirements to become a foster family home; (3) whether the state has elected to make guardianship assistance payments; and (4) other policies under the state program that may assist such caregivers.
Empower Parents to Protect Their Kids Act of 2022 This bill prohibits an elementary or secondary school from receiving federal funds unless the school complies with specified requirements related to parental consent and student gender identity. Among other requirements, school employees may not withhold information from parents about a minor student's gender transition or gender identity. The Department of Justice or a parent or guardian may bring a civil action against a school for violations.
Political Bias In Algorithm Sorting Emails Act of 2022 or the Political BIAS Emails Act of 2022 This bill makes it unlawful for commercial email service providers to use a filtering algorithm to apply a label to an email sent to an email account from a political campaign unless the owner or user of the account took action to apply such label.
This resolution expresses that the House of Representatives supports the designation of National Tire Safety Week; expresses strong support for the goals and ideals of National Tire Safety Week and efforts to reduce tire-related accidents, fatalities, and injuries; and encourages the people of the United States to participate in National Tire Safety Week events and activities and educate themselves and others on the importance of regularly inspecting and maintaining a vehicle's tires.
Educational Choice for Children Act This bill allows individuals and corporations a new tax credit after 2022 for charitable contributions to tax-exempt organizations that provide scholarships to elementary and secondary school students. Such students must be members of a household with incomes not greater 300% of the area median gross income and be eligible to enroll in a public elementary or secondary school. The bill excludes from the gross income of taxpayer dependents any scholarship amount for the elementary or secondary education expenses of eligible students. It also prohibits governmental control over scholarship granting organizations.
The Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance Act of 2022 establishes a federal grant program administered by the Secretary of Commerce to fund coordinated sea turtle rescue efforts along U.S. coasts. It provides $5 million annually (2023-2028) for grants to organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, and study stranded marine turtles, prioritizing groups with proven experience in these activities. Grants cover recovery, medical care, data collection, and facility costs directly tied to rescuing turtles, with funds distributed equitably based on historical stranding rates and conservation needs in designated coastal regions. The program aims to support existing rescue networks rather than create new government operations, directly benefiting coastal communities and marine conservation groups working with threatened or endangered sea turtle species.
Expanding Trade Sanctions on Russia Act This bill prohibits the importation of certain products from Russia. This prohibition applies to, among other products, uranium, plywood, silver, and platinum. The President may waive this prohibition for one or more of these products, subject to congressional disapproval, if the President certifies that such waiver is in the national interest. Additionally, the President may terminate this prohibition, subject to congressional disapproval, if the President certifies that Russia (1) has reached an agreement to withdraw Russian forces and cease military hostilities in Ukraine, (2) poses no immediate military threat of aggression to any North Atlantic Treaty Organization member, and (3) recognizes the right of the Ukrainian people to independently and freely choose their own government.
Student Loan Accountability Act This bill generally prohibits the Departments of Education, Justice, or the Treasury from taking any action to cancel or forgive the outstanding balances, or portion of balances, of covered loans. Covered loans refer to Federal Family Education Loans, Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and loans under the Health Education Assistance Loan Program. The prohibition does not apply to targeted federal student loan forgiveness, cancellation, or repayment programs that are in effect by final regulation on March 12, 2020, and carried out under the Higher Education Act of 1965.
Advancing Auto-Portability Act of 2022 This bill allows employees to transfer their retirement account upon terminating their employment to a similar account with a new employer. Specifically, it makes such transfers automatic, subject to the right of employees to opt out. It imposes certain requirements upon an automatic portability provider, including a requirement that the provider acknowledge its fiduciary status and provide a notice in advance to an employee whose retirement account is being transferred that contains a description of the automatic portability transaction and any fees charged in connection with the transaction. This bill also allows an eligible employer a $500 tax credit in the year that an automatic portability arrangement is adopted.
