HR 1330: Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino Act

HR 1330 establishes the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino, authorizing its location within the National Mall's "Reserve" area. The bill requires the Smithsonian Board to coordinate with federal agencies managing potential museum sites, including notifying relevant congressional committees before land transfers. It mandates that the museum's exhibits and programs accurately represent the diverse cultures, histories, and viewpoints of Hispanic and Latino communities in the U.S., seeking input from a broad range of community experts. The Smithsonian must also submit regular reports to Congress detailing compliance with these representation requirements.

HR 1299: EAGLES Act of 2025

The EAGLES Act of 2025 reauthorizes and expands the Secret Service's National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), directing it to lead national efforts in preventing targeted violence, particularly in schools. It mandates the NTAC to provide training, research, and consultation on evidence-based threat assessment programs for schools, law enforcement, and mental health professionals, with a focus on early intervention for students showing concerning behavior. The bill allocates $10 million annually (2026-2030) for these programs, requires hiring specialists in child psychology and school threat assessment, and mandates annual reports to Congress on training reach and effectiveness. This directly affects K-12 schools, local educational agencies, and public safety officials by establishing standardized protocols to prevent violence before it occurs.

HR 1348: Venezuelan Adjustment Act

HR 1348, the Venezuelan Adjustment Act, allows certain Venezuelans already in the U.S. to apply for permanent residency. S 533: National Right-to-Work Act

S 533, the National Right-to-Work Act, eliminates requirements for workers to join a union or pay dues as a condition of employment in private-sector workplaces and railroads. It amends the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and Railway Labor Act by removing language that allowed "union security agreements," meaning employers and unions can no longer mandate union membership or financial dues for employees. This directly affects workers in unionized private companies and railroad jobs covered by collective bargaining agreements. The law applies to new or renewed contracts after its enactment, changing how labor agreements can structure financial obligations for employees.

S 537: Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2025

This bill prohibits federal agencies (like the Fish and Wildlife Service and Forest Service) from banning lead ammunition or tackle on public lands and waters used for hunting or fishing, directly affecting hunters and anglers who use federal lands. It blocks new federal regulations on lead levels in hunting gear, except in limited cases where a specific area's wildlife decline is linked to lead use and the state wildlife agency approves the restriction. The law requires federal agencies to explain in notices how any exception meets state wildlife department requirements or state law. It does not change existing state laws or allow federal bans on lead where states already prohibit it.

S 541: ELITE Vehicles Act

The ELITE Vehicles Act repeals three key tax credits for electric vehicles under the Internal Revenue Code: the clean vehicle credit (Section 30D), the credit for previously-owned clean vehicles (Section 25E), and the credit for qualified commercial clean vehicles (Section 45W). It also excludes electric vehicle recharging property from the alternative fuel vehicle refueling credit. These changes directly affect individuals and businesses purchasing new or used electric vehicles, as well as those installing EV charging infrastructure, by eliminating the associated tax benefits. The repeal applies to vehicles purchased or under binding contract after 30 days following the bill's enactment.

Additional provisions include extending existing anti-tunnel and counter-UAS cooperation with increased funding, creating a new emerging tech program for AI/cybersecurity collaboration, and establishing a U.S. Defense Innovation Unit office in Israel. The bill requires annual reports to Congress on program progress and mandates semiannual financial oversight for all joint activities.

S 556: Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025

This bill imposes new sanctions on foreign entities (including banks, insurers, and logistics companies) that knowingly facilitate Iran's oil, gas, LNG, or petrochemical exports. It blocks U.S. property of sanctioned entities and bars targeted individuals from entering the U.S. via visa restrictions or revocation. Exceptions cover goods imports and certain international obligations, while the President may grant limited 180-day waivers for national security reasons, subject to congressional reporting. The law aims to disrupt Iran's energy revenue streams used for terrorism, weapons programs, and repression, with enforcement coordinated through a new interagency working group.

S 557: 1071 Repeal to Protect Small Business Lending Act

This bill, S 557, repeals Section 704B of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which required financial institutions to collect and report detailed data on small business loan applications. It directly affects banks and credit unions - especially smaller community institutions - that previously had to comply with these reporting rules. The key provision removes the data collection and reporting obligations, aiming to reduce administrative costs for lenders. This change would eliminate a specific regulatory requirement without altering how small business loans are issued or approved.

HR 1229: United States-Israel Defense Partnership Act of 2025

United States-Israel Defense Partnership Act of 2025 This bill requires or authorizes certain actions to increase defense-related cooperation between the United States and Israel. Specifically, the bill requires the Department of Defense (DOD) to establish a cooperative program, with the concurrence of Israel's Ministry of Defense (MOD), to develop and deploy advanced technologies for countering unmanned systems that threaten the United States and Israel; establish in Israel an office of the Defense Innovation Unit (an organization that focuses on rapidly fielding and scaling commercial technology across the U.S. military); and seek to engage Israel's MOD on the ascension of Israel into the national technology and industrial base (currently defined in law as the persons and organizations engaged in research, development, production, integration, services, or information technology activities conducted within the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada). The bill authorizes DOD, upon request of Israel's MOD, to jointly conduct research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics to meet defense challenges. Additionally, the bill extends the authority for DOD to (1) carry out RDT&E on a joint basis with Israel to establish anti-tunnel and counter unmanned aerial systems capabilities through 2028, and (2) transfer defense articles intended for use as reserve stocks for Israel through January 1, 2029.
