HR 4495: Downpayment Toward Equity Act of 2021

Downpayment Toward Equity Act of 2021 This bill establishes a grant program through the Department of Housing and Urban Development for states and other entities to provide qualifying assistance to certain first-time, first-generation home buyers in purchasing their first homes. Qualifying assistance includes assistance for mortgage down payments, mortgage closing costs, reduction of mortgage interest rates, subsidies for shared equity homes, or for certain preoccupancy modifications to a home to accommodate persons with disabilities. The bill also establishes grant requirements regarding home buyer income, types of housing, homeowner occupancy, types of mortgages, and home buyer counseling.

HR 8160: Political BIAS Emails Act of 2022

Political Bias In Algorithm Sorting Emails Act of 2022 or the Political BIAS Emails Act of 2022 This bill makes it unlawful for commercial email service providers to use a filtering algorithm to apply a label to an email sent to an email account from a political campaign unless the owner or user of the account took action to apply such label.

S 4416: Educational Choice for Children Act

Educational Choice for Children Act This bill allows individuals and corporations a new tax credit after 2022 for charitable contributions to tax-exempt organizations that provide scholarships to elementary and secondary school students. Such students must be members of a household with incomes not greater 300% of the area median gross income and be eligible to enroll in a public elementary or secondary school. The bill excludes from the gross income of taxpayer dependents any scholarship amount for the elementary or secondary education expenses of eligible students. It also prohibits governmental control over scholarship granting organizations.

HR 8102: Student Loan Accountability Act

Student Loan Accountability Act This bill generally prohibits the Departments of Education, Justice, or the Treasury from taking any action to cancel or forgive the outstanding balances, or portion of balances, of covered loans. Covered loans refer to Federal Family Education Loans, Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and loans under the Health Education Assistance Loan Program. The prohibition does not apply to targeted federal student loan forgiveness, cancellation, or repayment programs that are in effect by final regulation on March 12, 2020, and carried out under the Higher Education Act of 1965.

HR 7233: KIDS CARE Act

Keeping Incarceration Discharges Streamlined for Children and Accommodating Resources in Education Act or the KIDS CARE Act This bill requires states to ensure eligible incarcerated juveniles are given health screenings and appropriate referrals under Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in coordination with their release. It also allows state Medicaid programs to cover juveniles who are pretrial detainees. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services must also issue guidance on (1) ways to reduce administrative barriers for schools and school-based health centers to obtain reimbursement under Medicaid and CHIP; (2) how to expand mental, emotional, and behavioral health services under Medicaid; (3) existing Medicaid flexibilities to support children in crisis through more intensive services; and (4) strategies to increase access to telehealth services under Medicaid and CHIP.

HJRES 88: Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Securities and Exchange Commission related to "The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors".

This joint resolution prospectively nullifies the rule proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission titled The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors on April 11, 2022. The proposed rule requires registrants to disclose their climate-related risks.

HR 8081: Wounded Warrior Bill of Rights Act

Wounded Warrior Bill of Rights Act This bill requires the Department of Defense to establish a policy (containing specified elements) to ensure accountability for actions taken under the authorities of the Defense Health Agency and the military departments concerning wounded, ill, and injured members of the Armed Forces during the integrated disability evaluation system process. The bill also specifies that each military department must maintain personnel authority over, and responsibility for, its members during medical evaluation board consideration.

HR 7675: To amend the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 to establish an Agricultural and Food System Supply Chain Resilience and Crisis Response Task Force, and for other purposes.

This bill directs the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to establish within USDA an Agricultural and Food System Supply Chain Resilience and Crisis Response Task Force. Among other responsibilities, the task force must (1) help promote the leadership of the United States with respect to the stability of the agriculture and food system supply chain; (2) monitor the resilience, diversity, security, and strength of the supply chain; and (3) support the creation of jobs with competitive wages in the U.S. agricultural and food system sector. The head of the task force must be the Special Advisor on Supply Chain Resilience and Crisis Response who must conduct an evaluation of the stability and reliability of the agriculture and food system supply chain and report to Congress on the evaluation.
