HB 1861: RELATING TO THE COUNTIES.

HB 1861 would authorize counties to sell property owned by individuals who owe unpaid civil fines (such as traffic or municipal penalties) through non-judicial foreclosure, meaning without court involvement. This process would allow counties to collect the outstanding fines directly by selling the property, subject to specific legal conditions. The bill does not change the types of fines or the individuals required to pay them, but alters how counties can recover the debt. Currently pending in committee review, the bill has not yet become law.
