SB 876: RELATING TO FIREARMS.

Provides that owners of previously registered firearms in this State shall not be subject to the existing permit waiting period when seeking a permit to allow for the acquisition of another firearm.

SB 164: RELATING TO ASSOCIATION LEGAL FEES.

Allows unit owners in planned community associations and homeowners associations to withhold legal fees from assessments claimed by associations pending decision in an arbitration or court proceeding in which the owner has filed for a determination of the validity of the amounts and attorney's fees claimed by the association.

SB 985: RELATING TO BOILER AND ELEVATOR SAFETY LAW.

Makes housekeeping amendments to Boiler and Elevator Safety Law; extends the time from five to ten years for the Director of Labor and Industrial Relations to reimburse the general fund from the Boiler and Elevator Special Fund.

SB 852: RELATING TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION.

Clarifies that the AG shall not represent the legislature and individual legislators acting in their official capacity. Requires the respective house to provide legal representation for any member who is sued in the member's official capacity unless the member declines such representation.

SB 1024: RELATING TO UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII RULEMAKING.

Exempt certain adoption of regulations by the University of Hawaii from chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes; require certain adoption of policy by the University of Hawaii be subject to chapter 92, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

SB 154: RELATING TO GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS.

Sets the greenhouse gas emission limit to be achieved by 2030 to 100% below the 1990 level, including all transportation fuel emissions. Requires the director of health to adopt rules by 12/31/19 for achieving the target of 100% below greenhouse gas emissions in 1990 by 2030 and establishing mechanisms to offset emissions.

HB 596: RELATING TO BUSINESS PROTECTION.

Broadens the scope of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT) to include business protection under its broad policy objectives. Requires DBEDT to gain an understanding of the functions and activities of other government agencies with respect to the field of business protection.
