SB 891: RELATING TO INCOME WITHHOLDING FOR CHILD SUPPORT.

Amends the income withholding requirements to impose a fine against any employer who discharges from employment, refuses to employ, or takes disciplinary action against any noncustodial parent subject to income withholding, or who fails to comply with an order of assignment of future income. Takes effect on 1/7/2059. (SD2)

HB 1359: RELATING TO INVASIVE SPECIES.

Allows each county to enact and enforce ordinances necessary to prevent, investigate, control, or eradicate invasive species identified by the Hawaii invasive species council on any public or private premises within the limits of the county. (HB1359 HD2)

SB 889: RELATING TO PROFESSIONALLY LICENSED OR CERTIFIED GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.

Clarifies liability for tort claims against a professionally licensed or certified state employee. Assigns exclusive liability and remedy to the State for claims arising out of acts within the scope of public employment and for which the State assumes responsibility. Precludes proceedings for damages against the employee where State is liable except for acts not within scope of State employment. (SB889 HD1)

HB 891: RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Requires the Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the office of the governor, to develop a strategic plan to double local food production and exports by 2020. Requires the Department of Agriculture to submit the strategic plan to the legislature prior to the Regular Session of 2018 in order to codify the strategic plan and benchmarks. (SD1)

SB 1156: RELATING TO MOVIE THEATERS.

Removes the sunset date of Act 39, Session Laws of Hawaii 2015, thereby making permanent the requirements for a public accommodation that owns, leases, leases to, or operates a motion picture theater in more than two locations in the State to provide open movie captioning during at least two showings per week of each motion picture that is produced and offered with open movie captioning and audio descriptions upon request for all motion pictures for which such accommodations are available and provide public notice if such accommodations are not available for certain movies.
