SB 619: RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires the DOE, in collaboration and consultation with DBEDT, DLIR, and UH, to develop and implement a K-12 curriculum to career pipeline initiative to ensure that the State's public school students are adequately trained and prepared to enter the State's workforce upon graduation from high school. SB 955: RELATING TO HOMELAND SECURITY.

Establishes the Hawaii State Fusion Center (Center) as a program under the Office of Homeland Security and establishes the position of Hawaii State Fusion Center Director who shall be state-funded, responsible to the Director of Homeland Security, and accountable to manage the operations of the Center. HB 377: RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.

Requires building permit applicants to provide to the county a certificate of liability insurance issued by a workers' compensation insurance carrier or a self-insurance authorization, or a signed declaration verifying an exemption from coverage, for the applicants and their subcontractors as a prerequisite for the issuance of any building permit. Requires building permit holders to file a signed declaration verifying workers' compensation coverage, self-insurance authorization, or exemption from coverage or insurance requirements for any subcontractor hired after issuance of the permit. Requires coordinated communication between county building permitting agencies and the Director of Labor and Industrial Relations to ensure compliance. Takes effect on 7/1/2050. (SD1)

SB 961: RELATING TO THE HAWAIIAN HOMES COMMISSION.

HB 629: RELATING TO TAXATION.

Requires the Board of Directors of the Employees' Retirement System to conduct a study into the viability of exempting from income tax and general excise tax an amount up to an unspecified percentage of the costs of the construction and operation of projects entered into under a public-private partnership with the ERS to improve water infrastructure or water supply, or to promote clean energy and the viability of allowing ERS investments in such public-private partnerships.
