SB 1148: RELATING TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.

Requires the Hawaii Community Development Authority to develop a transit-oriented development (TOD) zone improvement program to foster community development by strategically investing in public facilities. Appropriates funds to HCDA for staff necessary to develop and manage the TOD zone improvement project. (CD1)

HB 1469: RELATING TO PUBLIC LANDS.

Establishes procedures for designating public land redevelopment districts, planning committees, district redevelopment plans, and designated redevelopment district revolving funds. Establishes powers and duties of planning committees. Modifies public land lease restrictions. HB 480: RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Makes an appropriation to the Hawaii community college for the Hawaii community college and University of Hawaii at Hilo, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Agribusiness Development Corporation, to study agriculture and agricultural learning opportunities on the island of Hawaii. Requires the Hawaii community college to submit a report to the legislature. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD1)

HB 168: RELATING TO MEMORIALS.

Appropriates funds for the planning and design of a memorial to honor service members of the recent conflicts in the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the various theaters of the Global War on Terrorism, to be located at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, on the island of Oahu, and replicas of the memorial to be located at state veterans cemeteries statewide. HB 696: RELATING TO HEALTH.

Part I: changes the name of the board of dental examiners to the board of dentistry and dental hygiene; beginning on 7/1/2018, changes the board composition by increasing dental hygienist representation and ensuring Oahu and neighbor island representation among dental hygienist members. Part II: clarifies the allowable and prohibited practices requirements for dental assistants; clarifies that rules shall not infringe upon, overlap with, or conflict with the duties and scope of practice for licensed professionals; and prohibits persons from employing, directing, or ordering a dental assistant or other person to perform services or procedures within the scope of practice of dental hygiene. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD1)
