This bill temporarily increases the maximum weight allowed for personal delivery devices, such as scooters, to 250 pounds in the District of Columbia. The change applies to all users of these devices and is intended to address the current 150-pound limit established by the Personal Delivery Device Act of 2018. If approved, the new weight restriction will remain in effect for 225 days before automatically expiring. The legislation also grants the Department of Transportation the authority to set higher weight limits through future rulemaking.
