S 3813: Veterans Member Business Loan Act

This bill amends the Federal Credit Union Act to clarify that business loans made to veterans qualify as "member business loans" under existing credit union regulations. It specifically adds "made to a veteran" to the definition of such loans, aligning with the standard military veteran definition in 38 U.S.C. §101. This change directly affects federally insured credit unions that offer business loans, ensuring loans to veteran-owned businesses are counted toward regulatory requirements. S 3781: A bill to amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to exclude a basic allowance for housing from income for purposes of eligibility for the supplemental nutrition assistance program.

This bill would change SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) eligibility rules by excluding basic allowance for housing payments from income calculations. It specifically targets housing allowances paid to active-duty members of the uniformed services under federal law (Section 403 of Title 37). The amendment adds a new exclusion to the Food and Nutrition Act, meaning these housing payments no longer count toward income limits for SNAP benefits. This directly affects military service members receiving this housing allowance when applying for or maintaining SNAP eligibility.
