Food Assurance and Security Act

The Food Assurance and Security Act directs the Department of Agriculture and the Census Bureau to create a joint program for collecting and reporting data on food insecurity and hunger. This initiative requires the inclusion of specific survey questions about meal skipping, reduced meal sizes, and financial struggles with food in the annual Current Population Survey for the years 2026 through 2028. The results of these surveys will be compiled into an annual report submitted to Congress and made available to the public on the Department of Agriculture's website. Additionally, the bill authorizes funding to support the implementation of this new data collection and reporting system.
