National Strategy for Social Connection Act

The National Strategy for Social Connection Act establishes a new Office of Social Connection Policy within the Executive Office of the President to address the growing problem of loneliness and social isolation across the United States. This office will be led by a Senate-confirmed Director who is tasked with creating and updating a federal strategy to improve social connection, coordinating research efforts, and advising the President on how various policies impact community well-being. To support this work, the bill creates an intergovernmental Advisory Council composed of federal agency representatives and non-governmental experts to assess progress, share data, and issue guidelines for reducing social disconnection. Additionally, the legislation authorizes $5 million annually for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on loneliness from 2026 through 2031.
