S 4524 United States Senate · 119th Congress

BLAST Act

The BLAST Act prohibits former Members of Congress and elected officers from registering as lobbyists or making communications intended to influence legislation after leaving office. It achieves this by amending federal law to criminalize these activities and by expanding the legal definition of a lobbyist to explicitly include former officials working for clients. The changes apply to anyone who leaves their position on or after the date the bill becomes law.
