For the Fans Act

The For the Fans Act mandates that major professional sports leagues in the United States eliminate blackouts for live game streaming, ensuring all fans can watch every game regardless of their location. Under this law, leagues must also provide local fans in the same state as a team with free, high-quality access to all live games of that team, which can be delivered through local broadcasts or a single streaming service supported by advertisements. The Federal Trade Commission is authorized to enforce the no-blackout rule as an unfair business practice, while the Federal Communications Commission and state attorneys general oversee the free access requirement for local fans. These provisions apply to major leagues in baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer, but exclude minor leagues and organizations with fewer than eight teams.
