Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act of 2025

This bill requires the U.S. Secretary of State to submit annual reports listing Nigerian officials who promoted blasphemy laws (laws criminalizing religious expression under Nigeria's criminal, penal, or Shari'a codes) or tolerated violence by non-state actors like Boko Haram or ISIS-West Africa. If identified in these reports, the President must impose sanctions under existing U.S. law on those officials. It also mandates designating Nigeria as a "Country of Particular Concern" for religious freedom violations and Boko Haram/ISIS-West Africa as "Entities of Particular Concern" under the International Religious Freedom Act. The sanctions apply to federal officials, state governors, judges, or law enforcement who enforced blasphemy laws or failed to address religiously motivated violence.
