Building Community in America Act

The Building Community in America Act amends existing federal service laws to increase participation among groups currently underrepresented in national and community service programs. It specifically directs funding priorities toward recruiting and training men and other underrepresented individuals for activities such as youth mentoring, disaster response, conservation work, and skilled-trade apprenticeships. By updating the National and Community Service Act of 1990 and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973, the bill requires that project proposals and volunteer assignments prioritize these specific recruitment goals.
