Transnational Fentanyl Prevention Act

HR 6828, the Transnational Fentanyl Prevention Act, requires the CIA to produce a detailed intelligence assessment on the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels within 90 days of the bill’s enactment. The assessment must cover cartel leadership, drug smuggling routes, chemical supply chains for fentanyl production, marketing tactics targeting U.S. consumers, and efforts to undermine U.S. and Mexican counternarcotics operations. It also mandates an annual revenue estimate for these cartels, disaggregated by drug type. This bill does not create new laws or policies but directs Congress to receive this intelligence report to inform future counterdrug strategies. The report will be submitted to specific congressional committees, including intelligence and foreign affairs panels.
