Seizure Awareness and Preparedness Act

The Seizure Awareness and Preparedness Act (S 5065) establishes a federal grant program to support students with epilepsy or seizure disorders in public schools. It authorizes $34.5 million (2024-2028) for states to fund local school training on seizure management, including creating individualized health and emergency care plans for each student. Schools receiving funds must train all staff every two years on recognizing seizures, administering medications, and following customized care plans, while also informing bus drivers about students' conditions.
