Rail Bridge Safety and Transparency Act

This bill establishes new safety standards for railroad bridges and increases transparency about their condition. It requires railroad carriers to report bridge conditions (poor, fair, or good) and include repair timelines/costs for bridges in poor condition, while creating a public database showing location, owner, and condition ratings. Railroad carriers must also post visible signs identifying bridge ownership and a hazard reporting phone number. The bill includes penalties for delays in addressing safety concerns (up to $20,000 per week) and mandates random inspections to verify reported conditions.
