Hospital Transparency Compliance Enforcement Act

This bill requires all U.S. hospitals to publicly post their standard prices for services annually, starting within 6 months of enactment (or 6 months after opening for new hospitals). Hospitals failing to comply face daily fines based on size: small hospitals ($600/day), medium hospitals ($20 per bed/day), and large hospitals ($11,000/day). The bill also prohibits hospitals from hiding pricing information through website coding and mandates the government publish a list of non-compliant hospitals every 180 days. These requirements directly affect all U.S. hospitals operating under the Public Health Service Act.
