Chuckwalla National Monument Establishment and Joshua Tree National Park Expansion Act of 2024

This bill establishes the Chuckwalla National Monument (approximately 621,000 acres) in California and expands Joshua Tree National Park by adding approximately 17,842 acres. It requires the Secretary of the Interior to manage the monument through collaborative partnerships with culturally affiliated Native American tribes, including the Cahuilla, Chemehuevi, Mohave, Quechan, and Serrano tribes, through a newly created Chuckwalla National Monument Tribal Commission. The bill protects cultural resources and traditional tribal access while allowing for renewable energy development in designated areas near the monument and permitting recreational uses like hiking, hunting, and motorized vehicle use on designated routes. It also creates a Chuckwalla National Monument Advisory Council with 19 members to provide input on management planning.
