Guaranteed Paid Vacation Act

The Guaranteed Paid Vacation Act requires most employers to provide employees with 1 hour of paid leave for every 25 hours worked, up to a maximum of 80 hours per 12-month period. This applies to most private sector employees and certain government workers, including those employed by public agencies and covered government entities. Employees can use the leave for any purpose without needing to disclose the reason, and employers must provide written notice about the policy to all employees. Unused leave must be paid out upon termination of employment, and the law prohibits employers from discriminating against employees who take this leave. The Department of Labor will enforce these requirements through investigations and enforcement actions.
