Truckee Meadows Public Lands Management Act

The Truckee Meadows Public Lands Management Act transfers approximately 1,500 acres of federal land to local entities in Nevada for public use, including 190 acres to the city of Reno for parks and roadways, 865 acres to Sparks for parks and cemeteries, and 827 acres to Washoe County for recreation. It designates over 220,000 acres as new wilderness areas and establishes five National Conservation Areas to protect natural resources while maintaining existing recreational uses. The bill also transfers land to be held in trust for Native American tribes, including 11,436 acres for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and 8,319 acres for the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony. Proceeds from land sales will be distributed to the state for education, county conservation projects, and a special account for environmental conservation and management.
