Digital Defense Content Provenance Act of 2023

This bill establishes training for Defense Media Activity staff on verifying the origins of military digital content (like photos and videos) to combat AI-generated forgeries. It requires a one-year course teaching staff to use industry standards for authenticating media provenance and includes a pilot program testing these standards on publicly released Defense Department content. The pilot, running until 2027, will assess feasibility and effectiveness for current and historical media records. The program mandates reports to Congress on curriculum, implementation, and recommendations for future use.
