S 3405 United States Senate · 118th Congress

Countering Corrupt Political (CCP) Influence Act

This bill requires foreign missions from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to notify the U.S. State Department 72 hours in advance of meetings with U.S. state or local officials or visits to educational/research institutions. The notification must include the date, location, participants, and purpose of each meeting or visit. The State Department must submit monthly reports to Congress listing all such notified meetings. A joint threat assessment report on these countries is required within 4.5 years, but the bill’s core requirement is a transparency measure for foreign diplomatic engagements.
