Influenza Act

The Influenza Act sets national goals to improve influenza preparedness, including delivering first vaccine doses within 12 weeks of a pandemic strain's emergence and developing a universal vaccine within 10 years. It authorizes $335 million annually for pandemic influenza response and includes provisions to strengthen vaccine supply chains, improve diagnostics (including at-home testing), and address vaccine hesitancy through targeted communication strategies. The bill requires ensuring equitable access to vaccines and treatments for vulnerable populations, including racial and ethnic minorities, seniors, and those with chronic conditions. It mandates regular reporting on implementation progress and incorporates health equity considerations into all influenza planning and response efforts.
