Pala Band of Mission Indians Land Transfer Act of 2023

This bill transfers approximately 721 acres of land in San Diego County, California, into federal trust for the Pala Band of Mission Indians tribe. The tribe must first transfer title to the U.S. government, after which the Secretary of the Interior will place the land into trust within 180 days. The land becomes part of the Pala Reservation and is managed under standard federal trust rules for tribal lands. Crucially, the bill explicitly prohibits the tribe from operating gaming activities on this transferred land under either tribal authority or federal gaming laws.
