Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act of 2023

This bill authorizes $30 million annually (2024-2028) for National Institutes of Health research on uterine fibroids, addressing a condition affecting 26 million U.S. women and disproportionately impacting Black women. It requires the creation of a Medicaid database to track treatment costs and coverage for fibroid care, and mandates the development of public education materials about fibroid symptoms, treatment options (including non-hysterectomy approaches), and racial disparities. The bill also directs the Department of Health and Human Services to promote evidence-based care for healthcare providers through partnerships with medical societies.
