No Federal Funding for CCP Spying and Persuasion In Education Settings (SPIES) Act of 2023

This bill prohibits U.S. federal funding for any institution of higher education (including international institutions) that hosts Confucius Institutes. It amends existing law to remove a previous exception that allowed funding for such institutions and eliminates any authority to grant waivers. As a result, colleges and universities receiving federal funds (e.g., research grants, student aid) would lose that funding if they host a Confucius Institute.
