WIC Act of 2023

This bill amends the Child Nutrition Act to expand WIC program eligibility. It extends child eligibility to age 6 (instead of 5) for certain nutrition services, increases infant eligibility to age 2 (from under 1), and extends breastfeeding/postpartum support periods to 2 years (from 1 year). States must certify eligible participants by October 1, 2027, with waivers available for technological, cost, or program-specific reasons. The changes directly affect low-income pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children under age 6 who qualify for WIC nutrition assistance.
