Social Determinants for Moms Act

The Social Determinants for Moms Act establishes a federal task force to address maternal health disparities, focusing on preventable maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity. The task force, including cabinet secretaries and community representatives, will coordinate federal efforts to tackle nonclinical factors like housing insecurity, food access, environmental health risks, and transportation barriers affecting pregnant and postpartum individuals - particularly in communities with high racial/ethnic disparities. It also authorizes $100 million annually (2024-2028) in grants to community organizations and tribes to address these social determinants through housing, nutrition, childcare, and violence prevention programs, with reports required to track outcomes by race, income, and geography.
