See Something, Say Something Online Act of 2023

This bill requires online platforms to report suspicious content related to terrorism, serious drug offenses, or violent crimes to the Department of Justice within 30 days (or immediately for urgent threats like active drug sales or terrorism). Platforms must submit a "Suspicious Transmission Activity Report" (STAR) detailing the content, user information, and context, and maintain records for five years. Failure to report could strip platforms of Section 230 immunity, making them liable for the reported content as publishers. The law creates a centralized system for reporting and mandates coordination with law enforcement to address major crimes.
