Local Procurement Act

The Local Procurement Act (HR 9538) requires the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to prioritize purchasing meat, poultry, fruits, and vegetables from U.S.-sourced producers under specific conditions. For meat and poultry, the USDA must buy products labeled "Product of USA" or "Made in the USA" when possible. For fruits and vegetables, it must source from the delivery state or a neighboring state, and contracts must prioritize vendors using small or mid-sized farms. These rules apply to USDA purchasing authority, aiming to support domestic agriculture through concrete procurement requirements.
