Marijuana Misdemeanor Expungement Act

This bill would allow individuals with certain marijuana-related misdemeanor records to have those records expunged (removed) from official criminal justice systems. It defines "expungable events" as specific marijuana-related arrests, charges, and convictions that occurred at least one year ago, with no ongoing legal proceedings. Courts would be required to review and expunge eligible records within two years of the bill's enactment, and individuals would receive notification of the expungement. The bill also requires a study of demographic data related to these expungements and specifies that expungement would restore individuals to their pre-arrest status, removing barriers to employment and other opportunities.
