AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2024

This bill requires that all new passenger vehicles manufactured in the U.S., imported, or shipped interstate include standard AM radio receivers capable of accessing AM broadcast stations. It mandates that manufacturers install these as standard equipment (not as an add-on) in vehicles produced after a rule is issued (within 2-3 years of enactment), with a longer phase-in period for smaller manufacturers. The rule also requires clear labeling for vehicles without AM radio until compliance and prohibits states from imposing conflicting requirements. The bill specifically allows digital AM stations as a compliant option and focuses on ensuring AM radio accessibility for emergency alerts via the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).
