Sue VOYEURS Act

The Sue VOYEURS Act (HR 8027) creates a civil right for individuals whose intimate images - such as photos or videos of private body areas or sexual conduct - were secretly recorded without consent in situations where they reasonably expected privacy (e.g., changing clothes, intimate moments). It allows victims to sue offenders in federal court for $150,000 per image, plus legal fees and injunctive relief to stop further sharing. The law defines "intimate visual depiction" broadly to cover non-consensual recordings in private or public settings where the person did not voluntarily display the content. Exceptions exclude law enforcement actions conducted under a valid warrant.
