HR 10406 United States House · 118th Congress

Patient Device Data Access Act of 2024

The Patient Device Data Access Act of 2024 requires medical device manufacturers to provide patients with access to their personal health data recorded or transmitted by covered devices (such as implanted monitors or remote-tracking devices) upon request. Manufacturers must disclose this data in understandable formats, including patient-preferred formats if possible, and publish clear information about data practices on their websites. The law applies to all manufacturers of covered devices and explicitly excludes requirements to redesign devices or disclose data already inaccessible to manufacturers. It does not mandate disclosure of data not reasonably accessible to the manufacturer, as defined in the bill.
