Medications for persons detained in jails provision

This bill requires correctional facilities in Minnesota to provide prescribed medications to incarcerated individuals who were taking them before confinement, provided the prescriptions are verified as current and valid. The law applies to all licensed correctional facilities and ensures continuity of care for inmates' existing medical needs. However, medications may be withheld if a licensed health care professional determines the drug is medically inappropriate, if an equally effective alternative is available with approval from the prescribing provider, or if the inmate formally requests to stop taking the medication.
