Notice of sign removal requirement

This bill requires Minnesota municipalities to notify sign owners within 24 hours if they remove a sign from a street right-of-way and the sign displays the owner's contact information. The legislation mandates that local governments establish a retrieval process allowing owners to collect their removed signs at a reasonable time and place. If a sign remains unclaimed after 30 days, the municipality is authorized to dispose of it through trash, recycling, or other methods. The law applies to all municipalities as defined in existing state statutes and covers any device or structure used to advertise, inform, or attract attention to pedestrians or vehicle operators.
