Consumer protection; obsolete dates eliminated.

This bill updates Minnesota's consumer protection laws by removing outdated date restrictions on the sale and use of unsafe cribs. It prohibits commercial users from selling, leasing, or placing unsafe cribs in commerce on or after January 1, 2006, and bars hotels, motels, and lodging establishments from providing unsafe cribs to guests. A crib is considered unsafe if it does not meet specific federal and ASTM International safety standards for corner posts and structural integrity. The law also allows cribs intended for non-infant use to be sold if they include a written notice stating they are unsafe for infants.
