Summary
Existing law specifies the state's general powers and authority over agriculture and establishes, among other things, the state and local agencies and commissions with authority or responsibilities over agriculture, the various projects, programs, requirements, and standards regarding livestock, poultry, sheep, swine, and other farm animals, dogs and cats, fruits, nuts, vegetables, cotton, industrial hemp, and other crops, milk and milk products, pest control operations, food labeling, distribution and use of agricultural chemicals, the content, handling, and sale of commercial feeds, bee management and honey production, the marketing, processing, storing, and dealing of agricultural products, and the various sources of funding or fee structures supporting these efforts. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation relating to agriculture.
