This would exclude many workers who previously qualified under the broader definition.

The practical scope of the meal period exemption is reduced. Only stationary engineers whose occupation meets the specific apprenticeship program criteria (state-registered, pre-1965, named 'Stationary Engineer') would be covered, rather than all skilled tradespeople operating stationary mechanical equipment in fixed facilities.
