Pupil health: suicide prevention.
What changed between versions
Section 216(a) changed the training audience from 'school staff, pupils, and parents staff serving pupils in kindergarten or grades 1-12' to simply 'school staff serving pupils in kindergarten or grades 1-12.' Pupils under age 13 are no longer explicitly listed as direct trainees (pupils 13 and older remain a separate category), and the redundant 'parents' reference was removed from the first clause since parents, guardians, and caregivers remain covered in a later clause.
Section 216.5(e) was deleted entirely. This provision had required the State Department of Education to coordinate suicide risk screening data collection with the State Department of Health Care Services, including alignment with data collection frameworks under the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative and the school-linked statewide fee schedule in Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5961.4.
