AB 1616 California Assembly · 2025-2026 Regular Session

Veterans.

Summary
Existing law establishes the Department of Veterans Affairs. The department, among other services, provides veterans and their dependents and survivors with assistance in processing service-related disability claims, assistance in obtaining affordable housing, and information about health ailments associated with military service. This bill, upon appropriation by the Legislature, would require the department to establish a program to fund a study for nonnarcotic post-traumatic stress disorder treatments. The bill would require the department to submit a report that summarizes the findings and recommendations of the study to the Legislature no later than June 30, 2030, and would repeal these provisions on January 1, 2031.

What changed between versions

01/21/26 - Introduced AB1616 · 2 edits
MINOR
No substantive policy changes were made to AB 1616 between these two versions. The differences are entirely in formatting and presentation: the second version appears to be a web-page rendering of the same introduced bill text, including website navigation elements (search boxes, links, headers) that were not present in the first version. The actual legislative language of Section 709 is identical in both versions.
TECHNICAL

The second version adds website navigation and layout elements (skip to content, home, accessibility, FAQ, search fields, bill information links) that are not part of the legislative text itself.

Minor formatting differences in the digest key section: capitalization changed from 'majority' to 'MAJORITY' and 'no' to 'NO', and spacing around labels was adjusted.
