Elections: elections officials.

Existing law requires elections officials, at least 14 days before an election, to prepare and make available to the public a list of the precincts to which officials who are fluent in a non-English language and in English were appointed, and the language or languages other than English in which the officials will provide assistance. This bill would require the county elections official to make this list publicly available on the county elections official's internet website. By imposing additional duties on county elections officials, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to the statutory provisions noted above.
