Veteran suicides: report.

Existing law requires the State Department of Public Health to implement an electronic death registration system and to access data within the system to compile a report on veteran suicide in California that includes information on the veterans' ages, sexes, races or ethnicities, and methods of suicide. Existing law requires the department to provide that report annually to the Legislature and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This bill would require that report to include information on the counties of residence of the veterans, and would authorize the report to include additional information. The bill would also require the report to include a cross-tabulation of that data and to compare the data to the data from the previous year. The bill would require the report to be submitted on or before March 15 of each year.
