Summary
Existing law, referred to as the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act of 1975 (MICRA) , limits the amount of damages for noneconomic losses in an action for injury against a health care provider based on professional negligence to $250,000. This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to bring interested parties together to develop a legislative solution to issues surrounding medical malpractice injury compensation.
